I had a great experience at my first Ironman last weekend in Madison Wisconsin!  I finished in 13 hours and 45 minutes which I’ll take for my first.  God was definitely my strength and I felt incredibly supported throughout this endeavor by my beautiful wife and family.  My friends at BridgeWay were amazing and a huge encouragement.  My motto has been “Do Hard Things” and this race was no exception.  An Ironman is hard.  140.6 miles of swimming, biking, and running which tests your physical, emotional, and mental limits.  The whole race was hard, from the minute I stepped into the water at 7am till I crossed the finish line at 8:45pm and heard “Ron Aulbach, Rockford MI, you are an Ironman!” But, I see people go through events in life that are much harder.  Chemo, divorce, tragedy, job loss, rejection.  It’s a fact, every person is either in a tough spot, just coming out of one, or about to head into one.  I just can’t find the verse in the bible that says, “and then the disciples found easy street, life was a breeze, everyone loved them and they lived happily ever after.”  It’s just not there.  Instead, God takes us on a journey, and there will be ups and downs, hills and valleys.  But God is waiting at every turn.  When you press into God and trust him to carry you through the difficult and dark moments of life, anything is possible.  I would encourage anyone reading this to set your sights high, make impossible goals, and then go do hard things with God!

” Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord” Colossians 3:23
